Municipal quedó eliminado de la Copa Centroamericana 2025 tras igualar 4-4 frente a Herediano en el Estadio Nacional, por la quinta jornada del Grupo B.
El encuentro inició con pocas emociones, aunque los escarlatas mostraban mayor comodidad con la posesión. Sin embargo, al minuto 25 Elías Aguilar abrió el marcador para los ticos con un tiro libre. La reacción roja no tardó: al 31’ Rudy Barrientos empató el partido devolviendo la ilusión a la afición.
La segunda parte fue un verdadero festival de goles. Brian Rubio adelantó nuevamente a Herediano (2-1), pero José Mena volvió a empatar con el 2-2. Apenas unos minutos después, Marcel Hernández colocó el 3-2 para los locales. El drama continuó al 75’, cuando Yunior Pérez sacó un potente zurdazo para el 3-3.
El tramo final mantuvo la tensión: Rubio firmó su doblete y puso el 4-3 para el “Team”, aunque en el cierre Pedro Altán selló el 4-4 definitivo.
A pesar de terminar invictos con seis puntos (un triunfo y tres empates), el equipo dirigido por Mario Acevedo finalizó tercero en el grupo y se despide del certamen regional.
